A deployment clasp, also called a deployment buckle, a deployant clasp, a butterfly clasp, or an invisible double locking clasp is an expanding metal mechanism designed to fasten a watch band with a fitted look.
Deployment watch bands are an elegant option, eliminating the bulky look of the longer watch bands with traditional buckles.
However, as sleek as deployment watch buckles make your watch look, traditional mechanisms can be tricky to operate, much more so than other watch clasp types. This is not the case with this butterfly clasp as it has two bars that can be pushed in to release it. this makes opening the claps a hassle trouble free operation. Often the non-butterfly clasps are extremely stiff and you have to exert a lot of force to get them open. Over time they wear and eventually simply stop working. Again, this problem simply does not occur with a butterfly deployment mechanism.
